If you’re a Photoshop enthusiast looking to make your text layers more interesting, stretching them can be a great option. There are three main ways to create a stretched text effect in Photoshop, and in this guide, we’ll walk you through each method step by step.
Option 1: Stretch Text Using the Transform Tool
Add Your Text:
Start by typing out the text you want to stretch using the Type Tool (T).
Activate the Transform Tool:
Press Control + T (Win) or Command + T (Mac) to turn on the Transform Tool.
You can customize the appearance of the text in the Options Bar.
Drag the Toggles:
With the Transform Tool active, hold Control (Win) or Command (Mac) and click-drag any of the toggles around the text box. This will stretch the text in the desired direction.
Option 2: Stretch Text Using the Warp Tool
Convert the Text Layer:
Control + click or Right-click on the Text Layer in the Layers Panel and select “Convert To Smart Object” to turn it into a Smart Object.

Convert the Text Layer:
